AI adolescence?

I have argued that we humans spend too much of our lives in childhood and adolescence and too little of it as productive adults.* I had thought that AIs would not have this issue. But perhaps AIs also need a controlled adolescent phase in order to overcome the problem discussed in my blog of 6 June 2020.
