Staying connected/wired

Our iphone5 was being overcharged for data usage.  Verizon was unable to connect with it using their WiFi and had us replace the phone completely.  Apple's replacement is a reconditioned unit!  We'll see how that works out.  The phone was only a couple months old.

AT&T is our home internet provider and every month or so we have to unplug the modem and reconnect it in order to get it working again.

We also have a CableOne ADD box ("all digital device") which must also be unplugged and reconnected occasionally to get it working.  It also runs quite hot, even when turned "off."  Sometimes when you go to turn it on the indicator light goes from red to green for a second and then back to steady red.  You may have to turn it "on" a few times to get it to stay "on" (green).  Changing channels is also quite slow.
